Dear Midtown Girl,
I had a great first date last week. We had dinner, cocktails & then he walked me back to my apartment. Our date lasted about 3 hours and conversation was so good. Literally we could talk for hours. When he walked me home, he gave me a hug (A HUG?) and then told me to have a great weekend. What does this mean? I haven’t heard from him since. Should I text him? How long does it take for a guy to ask for a second date?
Dear MG,
I’ve been friends with this girl for a few years. We aren’t exactly best friends, but we hang out a lot and I share personal stories with her. She’s very sweet but every time she’s around my boyfriend & I, she gets really friendly with him. Especially if she’s had a few drinks, she starts getting very flirtatious with him, saying ridiculous things like “if you were single, I would grab you in a second” and to me “you’re so lucky to have found such a cute guy, let me know if you guys ever break up”. I’m not the insecure or jealous type, but the last time all of us got together (with other friends too), she grabbed his hand and started dancing with him. What should I do or say to make her stop without looking like I’m jealous (which I’m not)?
Dear Midtown Girl,
I had a first date this weekend that I thought had gone really well. Our date started with cocktails & tapas in Tribeca and ended with a walk around Madison Park. I had such a good time that after he dropped me off at my apartment, I waited a few minutes and texted him “Had such a nice time tonight. Get home safe.” He responded almost 30 minutes later with “Me too. Thanks”. I saw him Sunday afternoon and haven’t heard from him since (I know it’s only been 1 day but still..). What’s the deal with his text? Should I have not texted him first??
Hi Midtown Girl,
I read your blog often, your dating advice is so helpful. A while back you had written an article about online dating sites which came in really handy when I decided to test it out for myself. I’ve only been on for a week and already have a date planned for this weekend. Now, what should I wear for my first date?? I live in NYC too and this winter has been unusually warm. What do you think would be a cute winter date outfit? Thanks!
Dear Midtown Girl,
The guy I’ve been dating for the past few weeks recently told me he loved me. I told him I loved him too and that he is the guy I want to be with forever, but he told me he’s not ready for a relationship. We spend almost everyday together and for thanksgiving he even came to my house for dinner. He is everything I want in a guy so I don’t get it. What can I do or say to make him want to be in a relationship?
Dear Midtown Girl,
I’m 25 and have been dating my boyfriend for almost 3 months now. Everything is great except that his best friend hates me. At least I think so. A few times, my boyfriend & I had arguments while his best friend was in the room. After the arguments, his best friend would tell him how I’m the cause of every problem we are having/have had. It’s so annoying and as much as I don’t want to be around his bf, it’s hard because they’ve been friends since high school and are very close. Obviously I don’t want to get in between their friendship, but why is his best friend getting in between our relationship? He doesn’t like me and I don’t know why.
I’ve been using an online dating site for a few weeks now & so disappointed with it! I consider myself an attractive, intelligent woman with a great career and social life, so I’m really surprised (and frustrated) that my inbox is not full of appropriate matches. I get emails from guys who are sometimes 10 years older than me (I’m 30) and from guys who are not physically my type (nothing against short guys, but I’m 5’8, so a guy shorter than 5’10 would not really be a fit for me). I have 2 photos and what I thought was interesting background info in my profile, so what am I doing wrong? Do you have any tips because I’m ready to give up on the whole online dating thing?
