YAY for Music Mondays!!

I wanted to introduce to you dahlings, an R&B artist that I have been working with:

Tracie Josephine

About the Artist:

“Music lives with me. It has invaded my thoughts and is the pioneer to my dreams just as God is the captain to my ship, I’m the passenger on his wings. The only thing that’s free and all over me, music has kidnapped me and made me its own now that I have it I must share it with the world.”

When it comes to music, there’s no denying the passion and drive for it all. Singer/Songwriter Tracie-Josephine’s love for music began at a very young age on a small island known as Grenada singing solos in church.

She relocated to New York at age 18 to further pursue her dreams of creating music for a living. Her eclectic musical influences stem from Michael Jackson to Cold Play, from Bob Marley to Marvin Gaye, from Lauryn Hill to Joss Stone.

Writing poetry as well comes easily in her belief for it releases untapped emotions coming from the soul of personal experiences and relations and plainly for the fulfillment and enjoyment of others. Her direction as far as the future is to formulate feel good music with substance and reason.

“I want to become the next prodigy, my heart races for that raw soul, r&b music; I am relentless on making it far, it is destined for me, music lives with me, I couldn’t deny music if I tried!”

Tracie-Josephine

Tracie recently recorded a new song that she wrote, “Dangerous” and I love the way it sounds! I wanted to share a rough cut version of this sweet song for you, because many of us can relate to the vocal story that she is sharing

Please take a listen to an unedited clip of Tracie’s new song “Dangerous” -

TURN-IT-UP!!!

I love it when she sings - “How does it feel when I walk away…how does it feel when you lose your place…” UGH, I have sooo been thru this before!!!

Share your thoughts, dahlings! XOXO

You know something’s uber-POPULAR when they start mocking about it in commercials

And when you add character representation using SHOES?!

Well then, that’s just pure Marketing Genius.

The MadMen who came up with DSW’s new ‘shoe-dating commercials KNOW their shiz when it comes to online-dating

Because THIS totally does happen!

Online-Profile Misrepresentation…a.k.a B.S.!

Ok, I HAD to do a post on this Cah-Ray-Zee chick bc I was born & raised on Staten Island (one of the 5 NYC boroughs, for those who’ve never heard) and lived there until 17 – the age I started undergrad at NYU & moved into the city. Thank GOD.

Besides ranting about how much she hates, EVERYTHING, this S.I. Bridezilla is obsessed with money and how much everything costs

This crazyee beoyatch represents everything that is wrong with Shao-Lin.

In one moment, she refuses to apologize to the doorman @ Marqee in Chelsea, bc he won’t let her come into the club with her bridal head gear (veil). She blasts him with a bitch-ass response, which in turn makes him refuse to let her & her bridal party into the club…

Enjoy lovelies!

Thoughts???

So – MidtownGirl.com has been OFFICIALLY revamped and renewed thanks to the wonderful and amazingly talented designer Divalicious Designs. She is an uber professional & tended to my every OCD request that I sent her- sorry for driving you crazy, love lol!! If any of you dahlings are interested in revamping your blogs, I highly recommend her x 100!

**A special THANK YOU to Diana from Our.City.Lights for helping me sort through my ideas while working on the re-vamp – virtual hugs to you darling & hopefully a real hug one day soon!!**

Just a few notes about the new look. I decided to revamp Midtown Girl into a Lifestyle Editorial about NYC living, rather than just a blog about online dating. There are tons of things I do IRL that I would love to share with you guys!

All new posts will be published on the main page, but I also classified them into different categories for your viewing pleasure:

MG Life will be focused on everything from Character-Breakdowns of my online dating adventures, the Single in My City Series, to the Toxic Friend Alert Segments (my rant post coming soon, I promise – I am still irritated…).

MG Style will be everything fashion & beauty related, with a specific focus in NYC style & my style which I deem Midtown Chic. It will also include events that I go to (like the Shop & Sip event on Madison Ave). In addition, I was just asked to be a Shop It To Me Trendsetter, so look out for posts on this as well – YAY x 100!!

MG Media will be everything Music/TV/New Media related. This outlet is UBER exciting for me bc – not sure if you guys know – I work in the music business (more about my background in a future post!!) & next week I will be introducing a new R&B artist that I have been working with the past year. She has an uncut version of her 1st single and I want to share it with all of you – SOO EXCITED!!! More to come…

MG Bite will cover everything food in NYC, with a primary focus on the Midtown food & resty scene. Speaking of bites – I am def looking forward to this year’s NYC Food & Wine Festivalyummilicious (I bet u guys thought I was going to say yum-o..I think not! lol)

AND TO THANK all of my readers (both alumni & freshmen!) I have paired up with the super-talented Tera from Olive Hue Designs for a new Giveaway.

Tera has a wonderful shop on Etsy that features original artwork, digital prints and designs. I found her blog & talented work after seeing her digitally reproduce a picture of my awesome & loyal bloggie bud & friend Otin!

For the Midtown Girl & Olive Hue Designs Giveaway, the winner will have his/her headshot reproduced digitally and have it sent them via email in .jpg format for use on a blog, website – whatever you want!

So the other day while on a mom-visit, I was driving around doing various errands. In an effort to finish up & get home asap, I tried to speed up to right-pass a bus. Needless to say, I was not quick enough -not even close- considering the bus almost side swept me…these bus drivers do not play!
Anywho, I’m now behind the bus and I notice a HUGE advert for “Married on MySpace” a new reality webisode-series. Now you know I was going to further investigate this – for shiz!

Initially, I figured it was going to be about people who met each other on MySpace & ended up getting married…wrong!

This is how it works:

First, couples submit their videos to MySpace. Then, MySpace users vote on who should be featured on the series. When the couple is chosen, they are filmed going through one element of the wedding process in each webisode (13 webisodes in total, including the final wedding day).

Each element has different options, for example:

In ‘Married on Myspace Episode 4: Red Carpet Jitters‘, the bride Elle (who, btw, gives great camera-face), goes through 3 different hairstyle options for her wedding day. After the webisode is finished, MySpace members can vote on their fav hairstyle. The style with the most votes will be the final hairstyle that Elle wears on her wedding day!

Married on MySpace Ep 4: Red Carpet Jitters!

At first, I wasn’t sure if this was something I’d actually watch, especially since it was over 8 mins long (watching videos on my lappy is not my fav thing to do). However, the couple was soo cute & fun, that I really enjoyed it! It reminded me somewhat of ‘hitched & ditched’ (luv this trash-tastic reality series), in the sense that the pace of the show was pretty quick, so it held on to my attention the entire time.

I believe MySpace has done a smart move in gearing towards a reality web-based series. They’ve pretty much been ousted as the top social-network by both, Twitter & Facebook, so this gives them an opp to head into the next trend: online, community-driven web-series (reality or not).

What do you guys think? Would you watch?
