What’s more fun than a weekend in NYC full of fashion & music? This past Saturday, XL Nightclub hosted a lively performance by indie rock singer Beth Ditto. Ditto performed her hit singles “I Wrote the Book”, “Move in the Right Direction” and “Get a Job”. With a fan-filled crowd, the night incorporated rock-punk inspired fashion & relationship-driven songs. Anyone who has experienced a break-up can relate to Ditto’s story driven lyrics backed by heavy hitting disco beats.
Last week, I co-hosted the first Jetsetter Style Retreat in Bryant Park’s Southwest Porch with dahlings Tricia Lewis and John Simon. Sponsored by Bryant Park, Southwest Airlines, ‘wichcraft and Grey Goose Cherry Noir, the event was a fab evening enjoyed by NYC fashion & style influencers.

On Friday, September 28th, Starr African Rum hosted the offish VIP Global Citizen Festival kick-off event at the Jane Hotel & Ballroom. Headliners including the Foo Fighters, The Black Keys and Band of Horses celebrated the excitement surrounding the first big concert in over 40 years at Central Park’s Great Lawn.
Guests sipped on Starr Rum & Diet Cokes (called the Star Diet cocktail) and the festival’s offish cocktail, the Starr Fair Trade Punch, a delish mix of blueberries, rum, ginger and lime from Apotheke bartender Nick O’Connor.
Fashion 4 Development held their 2nd Annual Ladies Luncheon yesterday at The Pierre Hotel in Manhattan. F4D is a global platform & United Nations initiative which aims to encourage fashion leaders to work on sustainable development schemes. Efforts include creating job opportunities for women in local fashion industries, brokering access to major distribution chains and improving women’s access to quality health care. The F4D event brought together fashion & political elite including Martha Stewart, Norway’s Princess Mette-Marit, Tommy Hilfiger, Tory Burch, Roberta Flack & Livia Firth.
F4D’s first goodwill ambassador, Franca Sozzani, editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia, was honored for her humanitarian efforts in the campaign. One of the most influential people in the fashion industry, I had the opportunity to speak with Sozzani about Italian style as well as her launch of Vogue Curvy:
At the posh Morgan Library in Midtown, USA Networks held it’s world premier party for their new summer series, Political Animals. Featuring a talented & handsome cast, the series is set to premier on July 15th on USA. Running on the subtitle “Power runs in the family”, the summer series storyline “pulls back the curtain on the polished facade of a former first-family as they navigate the complex world of political and personal ambition.”
Sigourney Weaver (who looks AMAZE in person, p.s.) plays former first lady & lead matriarch Elaine Barrish, who loses the running in her campaign for president of the United States. With a cheating former president as her husband, a supportive son as her side kick & another son who is struggling with different vices, the show drives you through the inner workings, scandals & relationships of what would look like the ‘perfect’ family to the rest of the world. And I have to say, it is riveting.
