One of the teen designers & her fierce creation

Located in the heart of Midtown, the NYPL hosted it’s annual Anti-Prom event along with a teen fashion show. The Anti-Prom is an event which provides an alternative, safe space for all teens who may not feel welcome at official school proms or dances because of their sexual orientation, the way they dress, or for any other reason.

And, through the NYPL’s wonderful program called Design NYPL, ten students from the High School of Fashion Industries created outfits that were displayed at the Anti-Prom. Design NYPL not only hosted the students for research sessions but  gave them $100 for fabric and provided the Library as a fashion show location. Check out some of the super talented teen designers & their creations below…

Several of the outfits will be on display in the Mid-Manhattan Library windows on 5th Ave for the remainder of June. Be sure to check them out!!
