Midtown Girl by Amy Chandra - Times Square, NYC
Any holiday alone can be tough for single girls. New Year’s Eve can be especially rough because everyone is in a reflective mood looking on their past year. You may be thinking “another year single”, “another year I didn’t find a boyfriend” and so on.
STOP IT!
You should look towards the new year as a chance for new adventures and a fresh start. If you’re going to be single on NYE this year, here are my tips:
  1. Go out with friends. That’s what friends are for! Having single friends is the best way to survive any holiday single. Dress to the nine and make all the single men envy they didn’t ask you out.
  2. Put your phone down. Install an app, change your passcode, have your friend hold it… do what you have to do to avoid any mistakes you might make as the evening progresses (such as drunk texting an ex).
  3. Have a back-up plan. New Year’s Eve is crazy in Manhattan. Avoid Times Square at all costs. Hailing a cab is a nightmare. Try to be easy going and roll with the evening because I can promise you that it will 99.9% most likely not go according to plan. Also, perhaps be prepared in your selection of shoes to be out all night. Better safe than sorry.
  4. Or stay warm and cozy inside. My usual preferred method. You can invite friends over or go solo and order in delicious guilty pleasure foods. I have had much better evenings staying in because we avoid the chaos of the city and can wear pajamas. I’ll be staying in this year because I’ll be working – lucky me.

So tell me lovelies, what are your plans for NYE?
