For his Fall/Winter 2010 Collection, designer Deibe Rondon found his inspiration through pictures taken from the 30’s to the 50’s. With pieces such as the satin bow dress to the silk & satin one-shoulder dresses, Deibe truly captures the flirty feminine spirit through his delicate designs.

I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Lauren Merkin Showroom to view the Spring 2010 Handbag Collection. Lauren’s handbag designs come in a variety of lux skins and in beautiful shades perfect for Spring. Many of her bags offer functionality as a clutch, handbag & cross body bag, showing us the versatility of her line.

Effortlessly transitioning from day to evening use, the Lauren Merkin Spring 2010 Collection screams City-Chic. A fabulush addition to our Spring wardrobe and date night outfits!

I had the opportunity of meeting milliner Anastasia Andino during Showroom New York’s December Sample Sale. All of Anastasia’s designs are made by hand in her Brooklyn atelier. Not only are her designs stunning, but so is she!

Designer Q&A:

What inspired you to become a designer?
I studied fine arts and fashion design as a child in school. I was always the athlete and artist. After a 10 year career in the heath, fitness and wellness industry, I came back to fashion and art after taking a millinery class at FIT. I loved the sculptural aspect of blocking hats and was hooked.
How would you describe your design style?
I’d say my design style is based on classic clean lines, with multiple textures and details that inspire a sense of movement.
What inspires your designs?
I’d say the ringleader dandy, outlaw cowboy, global soldier, space pirate, urban adventurer, femme fatale assassin.
Does NYC influence your design aesthetic?
Absolutely, I’m a native New Yorker, so think all of the inspirations stated earlier rolled into a child’s mind tossed into one the most diverse, fast paced environments in the world. The influences are woven so deep within me, it’s unconscious.
What type of music do you listen to when your are in design-mode?
It depends on what I need to settle myself and what tasks are at hand. Usually it’s AmbientElectro, (Steve Roach, Brian Eno), or Bebop Jazz, Chillout Grooves, but lately I’ve been listening to Pop music old and new and I, like many, am really loving the Gaga.
Can you offer some some styling tips with your pieces?
Keep the attire simple and let the hat accentuate the look as the key accessory.
