SIMC is back, dahlings!!!

And this week we have one of my lovely gf’s Christina – currently in B-school in Japan – giving us the inside scoop on what the dating scene is like in Tokyo!!! Break it down for us girl…

Describe the ‘dating  scene’ in your city:

(I should start with a caveat: since I came to Tokyo from New York for business school only last fall, my view of the dating scene is limited, so I asked some Japanese classmates for their perspectives as well.)

I feel like the dating scene in Tokyo is a little more…structured?  formal?, at least compared to NY.  Most bars and drinking places cater to groups, so I think the random meetings in bars are rare, unless you go to a Western-style bar/pub thing.  But culturally people are more shy about going up to random strangers.  Meeting people involves networks.

Are you an Online Dater?

I’ve never dated online, and nobody I know in Japan has done it.  Again, I think it may be a cultural thing — I have friends in NY who’ve openly tried eHarmony and match.com, but my Japanese classmate’s friend who found her husband this way initially tried to hide the fact that they met online.

Is their a specific ‘type of guy’ unique to your city?

Ha! They’re called “grass-eating men” (soshoku-kei-danshi  草食系男子), the young generation in their 20s and 30s who are effeminate, sensitive, and indifferent to women. I suppose they’re something like hyper-metrosexuals. Apparently some have even taken to wearing bras and peeing sitting down (whaaaaat??)  Perhaps this is an extreme group, but Japanese men in general are more conscious of grooming (more male cosmetics and beauty products in stores), and I’ve seen a lot of guys on the subway with very sculpted eyebrows.

Your Fav Date Spots:

Drinking is the national pastime, so there are lots of cozy bars hiding in alleys waiting to be found.

What is the most romantic attribute of your city?

I like city lights at night, and since Tokyo is so safe and clean you can walk around and just enjoy your company. Also, you can make weekend getaways to a traditional Japanese inn (ryokan) with private hot spring baths.

Describe the ‘Dating Scene’ in your city:

Miami is a great city with lots to do. But one of the biggest misconceptions is that you need to go to the beach in order to have a great time. This might be exceedingly appealing to tourists, but to locals, who live in Miami, South Beach is not only tiresome for a first date, but it’s also really boring. South Beach is where we go when our friends and family visit from out of town. It’s where we go for ‘events’ and things to do. We associate it as a ‘hangout’ spot — maybe a third date. But certainly not a first.
Fave Date Spots:

For me personally, I love going to a really laid back restaurant and perhaps going to see a show afterward (theatre at Broward Center or Adrienne Ardst) etc. I like the opportunity to get to know someone. I know you really can’t talk during a show, but it gives you another opportunity to have just another topic to talk about with someone. If someone isn’t into theatre, Miami is such a vibrant city with so much to do, that some restaurants are amusements within themselves. Also, don’t ever underestimate the power of just being somewhere with a nice atmosphere, where you can talk and just get to know someone. That’s what a date is, it’s a get-to-know you :)

Most Romantic Attribute of your city:

Miami is full of different types of people. There is wide array of food and an eclectic mix of culture. It’s a great city to go dancing in, see an art exhibit in and overall relax in. It has all the opportunities of a big city as well as the relaxing-vacationing styles of the topics!

Describe the ‘Dating Scene’ in your city:

“Small World,” the dating scene on a small island can become pretty complicated. Everyone knows everyone in some roundabout way or another. In Hawaii, people are always trying to figure out how one person connects to another. The random guy at the bar could be your second cousin’s ex-boyfriend, your high school friend’s neighbor; or most commonly, a friend of a friend. The dating scene in Hawaii can be a tricky place to navigate.

Are you an Online Dater?

I’ve never been an online dater. I have met and befriended a few people off MySpace and Facebook, but nothing ever progressed into anything romantic. One of my good girlfriends has been dating a guy that she met on MySpace for about a year now, and a blog friend of mine just married a guy she met on MySpace a few years ago! I know there’s a lot of stigma surrounding online dating, but if you’re prudent about it, it could turn out to be an amazing experience I imagine.
Guys you Avoid like the PLAGUE:
Club promoters, frat boys, bartenders, lifeguards, surf instructors, and stereotypical surfer boys. Oh, the surfers are the tricky ones. They have great tans, nice shoulders, back muscles, laid back, and can be easy to talk to. But these guys are constantly surrounded by beautiful girls at the beach, and the wandering eye is a common problem.

Any Specific “Type” of Guy that runs rampant in your city?
Your typical Hawaii Local Boy is very much in his comfort bubble. He’s routine, stubborn, reluctant to try new things. Hawaii is also quite the military stomping ground. Local women typically find military men to be girl-crazy, loud, obnoxious, unwilling to adapt to Hawaii culture, and at the same time some military men try TOO hard to adapt to Hawaii culture.
Fave Date Spots:
My boyfriend knows that the way to my heart is sushi, so we have our favorite spots to eat sushi. But my favorite date spot is actually somewhere I took him for his birthday. We had a picnic lunch at the park near my house, I used to go there all the time with my dad when I was a kid.


Staple Go-To Date Outy:
It’s pretty simple, really. Leggings or skinnies, a tunic, bold necklace, and heels.

The beach, DUH!

Describe the ‘Dating Scene’ in your city:
I’d say the dating scene in Boston is rather casual. Since Boston is such a sports city and we are so proud of all our teams, a lot of dates are sports-oriented: taking in a Bruins, Celtics, or Red Sox game in Boston or trekking to Gillette Stadium to see the Patriots. As for ways to find that special guy, it’s a lot of meeting through friends and/or at a bar. Though, as I say below, online dating (Match.com and JDate) are really popular ways to meet someone.
Are you an Online Dater?

So far no, but a few of my friends have found success online! I wouldn’t rule it out in the future.

Guys you Avoid like the PLAGUE:
Any guy who can’t treat me the way I deserve to be treated; any guy who talks too much about himself; any guy that’s rude when trying to get my attention.
Any Specific “Type” of Guy that runs rampant in your city?
The Boston boy: you know him even if you don’t live here! Born and bred in Boston- Boston hat, Boston accent, & Boston attitude (they all think they are allll that).
Fave Date Spots:

I have 2 that come to mind immediately.

1. Tasca is nearby my apartment. It’s a tapas restaurant, so perfect for sharing plates and conversation! Also, their Sangria is to die for. :)

2. Eastern Standard- great food, atmosphere, and it’s right around the corner from Fenway Park – grab a drink at ES then head to Red Sox game!

Staple Go-To Date Outy:
I usually stick with something cute and sexy, but not over the top sexy (gotta keep them curious!), and something I am comfortable in. Even if that new dress looks amazing, if I am fidgeting all night, that’s not good! Also, I think about where we are going and the atmosphere there when planning my look. When in doubt, LBD.

Most Romantic Attribute of your city:

I love the Boston Common; every season this park is stunning. From the blooming floral arrangements and lush green grass in the summer, to the snow, twinkly lights, and lit up gold dome of the State House in the winter, it’s just magnificent!

Describe the ‘Dating Scene’ in your city:

The “Dating Scene” in Mayaguez, (Puerto Rico) is pretty much EVERYONE & EVERYWHERE. I consider this city to be a “student-city”. Even though I was born and raised there, I always knew that weekends sucked because students went back home on Fridays. So, if I wanted to go out, and possibly meet a guy (that I hadn’t grew up with) it had to be Sunday-Thursday. Don’t get me wrong, you could find something to do everyday of the week, but they would probably be less people around during the weekends.
Are you an Online Dater?
I have never joined an online dating community, and hopefully never will. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with them, let alone with people who use them. But let’s just say that I would have a hard time trusting guys met this way. However, I have gone out with guys met through facebook/myspace/hi5 or whatever was in at the moment. It was just an easier way to get in touch, I guess. Example: cute guy in your class, you know his name, you always say hi, but never have time to talk. It is definitely easier to make plans to go out through Facebook, or Messenger … you get my point, so friend him NOW, and poke him :)
Guys you Avoid like the PLAGUE:
This is so funny. I actually have a Facebook group called “Sucky Losers” and it’s all about guys you should DEFINITELY avoid. My top three would be frat boys, athletes, and musicians. There’s also older guys (as in over 10 yrs older, younger ones, and guys you’ve known for way too long. Now, let’s be clear for a sec here, I’m in a sorority and my boyfriend is in a fraternity, and yes we met because of that. BUT, the big majority of these guys are players. BIG TIME PLAYERS that is.

Any Specific “Type” of Guy that runs rampant in your city?

Like I said, this is a student city and there’s over 20 greek groups within one campus, so frat boys are rampant. Also, girls if you just met a guy from a city far away, who says he’s single he probably IS NOT. So be sure to check first and/or that you trust him enough to believe him. Because I’ve seen it happen one too many times.

Fave Date Spots:

To me, a date is dinner and a movie. Consider me old school or whatever but yes, that’s what should be done in a date, at least at the beginning. I guess a fave rest for me to go was Pizzeria Uno or Chillis [students budget] and both within walking distance from the movie theatre. Going to Borders to grab coffee and talk after the movie.. priceless. Also, walking distance.

Staple Go-To Date Outy:
I haven’t been single in forever (like my boyfriend says, and made me specify, LOL) but I’m a casual girl. So it was usually jeans, a pretty top and heels.

Most Romantic Attribute of your city:
The best thing about this city, besides all the bars and clubs located at downtown, I would have to say the sunset. Even though the beach is not one of the prettiest (because of the port) the sunsets are ah-ma-zing!

Describe the ‘Dating Scene’ in your city:

Fort Collins, a small city about an hour north of Denver, has a pretty laid back dating scene, I would say. While nicer attire might be required to get into some restaurants and bars in other parts of the country, here in Northern Colorado jeans and a fleece North Face jacket are perfectly acceptable, and that is reflected in the dating attitude ’round these parts. Not that girls don’t rock the heels or gloss their lips – they just do it in denim and Polartec gear!

The FoCo is home to many micro-breweries – ever hear of New Belgium? Fat Tire, anyone?? – so beer culture definitely has an influence on the dating scene. It’s not so chill that one can’t order a quality martini if beer doesn’t suit your fancy (like for yours truly, for example), but it is definitely more relaxed than going out in downtown Denver. On one hand it’s nice because there is less pressure to get all dolled up and look perfect, but on the other hand it can make a girl a bit self-conscious that she’s overdressed on some occasions.

Are you an Online Dater?

I’ve never intentionally dated online… and let me clarify that statement… I did date a couple guys I “met” on MySpace several years ago (omigod, MySpace… I’m embarrassed just typing that), one of which turned into a 6-month relationship. While both were perfectly normal, nice, fun guys, I decided after MySpace guy #2 to just throw back to the old-school and meet guys face-to-face and decide after having a real-time, live conversation with them if conversations over dinner or drinks would follow. I’m not against online dating generally-speaking, it’s just not for me. I’ve been in a relationship for a couple months now, and I’m happy to say we met old-school style.

Guys you Avoid like the PLAGUE:

Well, you know, the usual… the tools, the d-bags, the creepers, the drunks, the testosterone-overloaded frat boys… yes, I said it… and any intelligent gal can tell if a guy is giving off any of these vibes within minutes of chatting with him or even just watching how he acts with his friends. Also, guys that lack direction in life. I have dreams and plans for my life, and I want my partner in crime to want the same for his own. Oh, and someone who isn’t willing to play… meaning a guy who takes himself too seriously. Where’s the fun in that??

Any Specific “Type” of Guy that runs rampant in your city?

Since Fort Collins is nestled up against the Rockies, plus the whole micro-brewery thing, the outdoors-y type of guy definitely dominates here. Not that every single guy is Grizzly Joe with a Jesus-length beard and hiking boots (thank god), but a good number of them are active dudes. Skiing, snowboarding, running, hiking, snowshoeing, biking, camping, fishing, kayaking… it’s kinda how we roll here in Colorado.

Fave Date Spots:

For nighttime dates, I like bars and restaurants… I’m a foodie of sorts, so you please my palate and I’m a happy gal! My favorite bar in Fort Collins is Elliot’s Martini Bar. Hands down. It’s a martini bar and it’s been a favorite of mine for many, many years. The BF and I had our first date here, and it’s still our go-to if we want to go out for a drink.

I also love the Rio (fab margs!), Enzio’s (great Italian food and wine), The Crown Pub (their bleu cheese burgers, OMG) and if something a bit swankier is on the agenda, Jay’s Bistro makes a quality cocktail which can be enjoyed while a live jazz band plays in the background. [I'm amused with myself... here I am talking up FoCo as a beer-centric haven for the outdoor enthusiast, and beer isn't listed once in my fave spots – lol!]

For day time, outdoor festivals or events are lots of fun, and Fort Collins’ summer lineup isn’t too bad for a small city… my f-a-v-o-r-i-t-e is the Greek Festival, which takes place in August. I don’t know why, but I adore the Greek Festival… eating baklava and drinking ouzo, learning Greek dances, and yelling “Opa!!” just makes me SO happy.


Staple Go-To Date Outy:

If it’s summer, a dress or skirt is my preference. In fall/winter, jeans is a staple, dressed up with cute flats or heels. Looking cute and stylish is important, but comfort has some influence, too. I love the height I obtain when wearing heels – I grow to six feet tall which makes me feel like a model – but sometimes this dancer’s feet just can’t take heels, so cute ballet flats or sandals win out.

Most Romantic Attribute of your city:

The landscape and the weather… the mountain view is beautiful, the sun shines more often than not, and blue skies abound! In the winter, softly falling snow can be very romantic and I love the lights the city puts in the trees that line downtown’s streets during the holidays… they look like stars! Romantic indeed.

Describe the ‘Dating Scene’ in your city:

Upon reading this out loud (yes, I do that sometimes), my sister said “horrible.” And while I wouldn’t necessarily go that far, I will say that dating around these parts is really tough. You see, even if you live in the valley (which I do), you’ll still find yourself dating in LA since a) it’s the closest city and b) there’s not a tons of ways to meet people outside of it (cough cough, here, cough cough!). I find myself constantly frustrated after nights out – whether they be in bars, clubs, etc. – because the way I see it, your odds of finding a genuinely good guy are kinda slim. Which is a perfect segue to the next question.

Are you an Online Dater?

I never EVER thought I’d say this, but yes. I’ve just recently begun online dating and am not sure what to make of it just yet. As I mentioned before, I reached a point where I was just over the LA nightlife scene and was starting to become the dreaded C word: cynical. I refuse to be a Miranda Hobbs so here I am, attempting to navigate a different kind of dating world. Sigh…

Guys you Avoid like the PLAGUE:

Guys with no sense of humor are immediately out in my book. And I do mean out! That’s probably the first thing I look for in a guy. If they have no motivation, that’s a turn off for me as well. I’m not saying you have to know exactly what you want to do in life (hell, I’m sort of confused in that area!), but without any sort of determination, what do you have? And lastly, I won’t date a bro. You know, those guys that wear the high socks, own a motorbike and guzzle beer 24/7. I hate to sound close-minded, but I had a bad experience with one of those types and I can’t deal with it again!

Any Specific “Type” of Guy that runs rampant in your city?

I live in LA, so that’s a big fat Y-E-S! I’d call ‘em playboys. A playboy = a bimbo lovin’, one night standin’, frosted tips wearin’ guy (among other things). They’ve gotten smart though, and can be found disguised as a nice guy. Ladies beware, haha!

Fave Date Spots:

I’m pretty low maintenance, so if there’s good food and good wine and/or cocktails, I’m all over it. But creativity is fun too. I was dating someone a few months ago and we went to Whole Foods, got cheese and wine and had a picnic on the beach. Very fun.

Staple Go-To Date Outy:

I love bright colors, but I also like to keep it fairly simple. So here’s an example! PS: I’m heel-obsessed. So cliche but it’s the truth.

Most Romantic Attribute of your city:

This is an easy one. We’ve got the beach! I’d be crazy to say that that’s not one of the most romantic places, and we’ve got some of the best (Malibu especially). And I know that the beach isn’t necessarily in LA, but it’s very close (20 minutes away work for ya?) so I had to include it.

How would you describe the ‘dating scene’ in your city?

In my specific city the dating scene is limited. If you didn’t fall in love while you were in high school then good luck to you! Seriously, I’m pretty much a spinster compared to the rest of my graduating class. Sure, I was in love in high school. Who wasn’t? I would have to say that New Jersey as a whole is also limited. Don’t like the beach? Sorry. Don’t like the club scene? Good luck.

Have you in the past or are you currently, online-dating?

I haven’t, but my friends have and I’ve heard many mixed reviews. Some have said that it’s great and they’ve met a lot of interesting people. Others have told me about old, creepy men pretending to be 20 years younger and wanting them to come over to their “bachelor pad” and go for “a midnight dip”. I’m just not willing to take that risk.

If yes, in your opinion, do you think online-dating is a better way to meet new people rather than the traditional meet at a bar/club/restaurant/bookstore/where-ever, scene? Why?

Personally, I think there’s something more romantic about meeting someone in person. It’s exciting to think about how you just happened to be in the same place at the same time like it was meant to be. Maybe I’m just old fashioned.

What sort of guys do you try to avoid like the plague?

What are some of your favorite date spots to go to for dinner/cocktails or both (yay!)?

Lucky for me, I love going down the shore. I’m the type of person who enjoys group dates every now and then (as long as I’m not forced to party with his friends constantly). D’Jais in Belmar seems to be popular among my age group (early-mid 20′s) but I’m more into the beach itself.

What is your staple go-to date outfit? Pics please!

I’ve always been casual so I think I would wear something like this:

Okay….so this girl is like what? 15? Give me a break…I teach first grade. I’m very familiar with Disney celebrities. I also can’t afford to know anything about fashion. It would just make me sad. (I think I need help. Please????)

What would you consider to be the most romantic attribute of your city?

The most romantic attribute of Jersey is the shore. For me, there’s nothing better than the ocean. If your not into that then there are some great mountain sites up north and of course Manhattan is right across the river. There really is something for everyone. One of my favorite local places is Laico’s in Jersey City. It’s small, semi casual, and you can never go wrong with Italian.

A little about me…
I just moved to San Francisco three months ago from Colorado. Got a great job in an incredible city! I love it out here, everything about the city is magical. It’s been a huge change for me, coming from Colorado to California. But every step of the ride has been totally worth it! Best decision I ever made!

How would you describe the ‘dating scene’ in your city?

San Francisco is young – that’s what I love about it. There are young people everywhere. There is always something to do, somewhere to go. The energy is wild. There are so many restaurants and bars in the city (and the outskirts), the question is always, “Ah! Where should we go tonight!” I’m also a firm believer in creating your own opportunities.

Have you in the past or are you currently, online-dating?

I moved to San Francisco a little over three months ago. When I moved, I knew no one. Like, not a single soul. So, I joined this site to try and meet people. I left it open so girls could contact me, too, if they were in the same situation I was. Low and behold, I met some great guys who wanted to show me around! There’s no better way to see a new city than to go on dates.

If yes, in your opinion, do you think online-dating is a better way to meet new people rather than the traditional meet at a bar/club/restaurant/bookstore/where-ever, scene? Why?

Holy cow, yes. I have dated my fair share of “frogs” and I can tell you this right now… online dating is great. Look at it like this – when you apply for a job, you send an email with your resume attached. Then, you hope that they like your resume enough to call you in for an interview. Now, you have the opportunity to rock the interview and subsequently get the position you applied for. Well, being my boyfriend is a position to be earned in the company of “Lauren.” And I don’t just hire anyone. Dating online allows these guys to “submit their resume” to me and then I can decide if I want to meet them in person. I, personally, think it narrows down the scope and allows you to make more of an educated decision on who you want to spend your time with. After all, your time is precious!

Would you recommend online-dating to your friends/family, etc.?

Absolutely. I would, of course, remind them to be safe and only meet people in public places for the first time. But, it’s a great way to get to know someone before physically meeting them. Then, the first time you meet, it’s not nearly as awkward.. The only weird part is the question, “How did you guys meet?” While online dating is definitely becoming more and more accepted, it still comes with some stereotypes. Meh, I say embrace it!

What sort of guys do you try to avoid like the plague?

I’m fairly picky with guys I choose to invest serious time and effort into. However, I’m an equal opportunity dater. I’m at an age now where I want someone who has a job, has their head on straight, and treats me right. Doesn’t seem like much, does it? You’d be surprised.

Is there a specific “type” that runs rampant in your city?

San Francisco is divided into little districts. Depending on where you are in the city, you could be surrounded by hipsters, Latinos, grunge, 25-year-old frat boys, punks, or normal average-joes. Totally depends. But, you can find every type of guy out here – that’s the beauty of living in the city!

What are some of your favorite date spots to go to for dinner/cocktails or both (yay!)?

Oooh, there are lots to choose from. I really just like going somewhere that I haven’t been before. I’m all about the fun, energetic ambiance. I love Le Colonial downtown, Betelnut in the Marina, Martuni’s in the Mission, but I am always up for trying new things. I don’t like going to loud clubs on a first date, however… kinda sends the message that you don’t care what I have to say…

What is your staple go-to date outfit? Pics please!

Deciding what to wear is a tough! It all depends on the guy and the plans. For casual dates, I usually just wear a cute sweater or top and boots. Boots are HUGE in San Francisco and I LOVE them. Like, L-O-V-E. I think tucking pants into boots is a really easy way to add a little sass to the outfit. So even when dressing casual, you can dress it up a bit with some boots. And don’t forget the accessories!

When the date is a bit dressier, I LOVE wearing bright colors with contrasting black. There is nothing sexier than black skinny jeans and killer heels. I have so many heels it’s hard to choose. San Francisco also gets cold at night, so this outfit is great paired with a little leather jacket.

What would you consider to be the most romantic attribute of your city?

Between the city lights and the beautiful bay, I don’t think there is anything that’s not romantic about this city.

How would you describe the ‘dating scene’ in your city?

Diverse. There are so many people with a wide array of backgrounds. Plus, there are so many different types of activities to do on a date in Toronto: you could go traditional with dinner, a movie or drinks, or you could try one of the many museums or festivals the occur throughout the year; for example, Saturday past was Nuit Blanche which runs all night and is a city-wide art exhibit.

Have you in the past or are you currently, online-dating?

Yes, I am currently on a dating website. I haven’t really met anyone online and I’m becoming very disenchanted with it. I think I would prefer to meet someone out and about in the city.

If yes, in your opinion, do you think online-dating is a better way to meet new people rather than the traditional meet at a bar/club/restaurant/bookstore/where-ever, scene? Why?

I think it depends on the person. Online dating worked for me before, but it’s not working for me now. It’s a great way to meet people, but I’m not sure it’s a great way to meet potential boyfriends (or girlfriends, as the case may be). I find a lot of people are trying to put their best foot forward and are consequently, not necessarily putting their most honest foot forward. Even when it’s unintentional, some people seem to be too stringent in their qualifications and others are too forgiving of things they would like in a potential date; whereas, when meeting someone out in the world, there are less connotations and more unknowns. I would never recommend meeting someone at a bar or club in Toronto; the scene seems to be too much of a scene. I would prefer to meet someone at a bookstore or a restaurant and developing the basics of a friendship over something we have in common, or even something we differ on, instead of online where I am wondering if they look like their picture and their profile is accurate. Not everyone is good at describing themselves in a 500 word box. I feel like I miss a lot of people because their writing is not catchy enough.

Would you recommend online-dating to your friends/family, etc.?

Despite the above paragraph, I would recommend online dating to anyone looking to meet new people. It’s difficult to meet people post-university and it’s a fun experience even if it leads nowhere.

What sort of guys do you try to avoid like the plague?

I don’t really have a type, but I really dislike club kids and greasy dudes. I try to avoid anyone without maturity; guys that want to go get drunk every weekend are too immature for me. I like going out, dancing and drinking, but I also have things I want to do with my time.

Toronto is very multicultural, but I see a lot of greasy, meterosexual dudes that are so unattractive.

What are some of your favorite date spots to go to for dinner/cocktails or both (yay!)?

In the summer, I’m a huge fan of the harbourfront. It’s cliché, but it’s very close, there’s always something going on and you can always just grab ice cream and talk. I also like the Rivoli or Eat My Martini. If it’s a very special occasion, there is a terrific restaurant on Ward’s Island: The Rectory Café.

In the winter, I prefer cozy spots. Some of my favourites are Kalendar on College or Harbord House for dinner on Harbord St. I love sushi and I think it’s one of the sexiest things to try on a date; there are tons of great sushi places in the city! Bloor west of Spadina has tons of sushi places, New Generation is one of the best known. There are also a couple on Queen St. W. A smaller, but very awesome lounge for drinks is Touche, on College. Almost no one knows about it, but it still manages to be busy on a Saturday night. I’ll never forget one date where we went to the Park Hyatt lounge: The Roof Lounge. I had the best martini in the city and the patio is usable even in the winter because of the heaters and high balcony. It’s very expensive though.

I’m a dress kind of girl, so I usually go with a light dress and some heels in the summer. I add a cardigan and boots in the winter. I don’t want to go for something too casual or too fancy. I usually try for an upscale casual look that works for museums to drinks to billiards to dinner. I don’t have pics of myself but I looked online and found some:

What would you consider to be the most romantic attribute of your city?

Toronto is such a diverse city. Depending on what you want, you can find it in one of the areas. We have everything and every kind of cuisine. It’s like Europe-light; it’s colder, but so full of life. There are always people out and around during the evening or on the weekend. We also have the added bonus of the waterfront and the Island.
