Summer Date Night Outfit: What To Wear On A Preppy Date

So…the other day I recieved an Ask MG question, “what’s a cute &  preppy date night outfit“. (Btw, thank you for sending all of your Dating & Fashion Q’s, I have over 800 waiting to be answered and will totes get to them, promise!). Since I have lived on the east side of Manhattan for what feels like forevz, I totes knew the perfect outy…

Boyod ‘Elisabeth’ Embellished Tunic, Tory Burch Metallic Mini Bag, 7 For All Mankind Roll Up Short in Clean White, Jimmy Choo ‘Patriot Pat’ Platform Espadrille

WHAT: Embellished Tunic, White Cuffed Shorts, Espadrilles, Metallic Mini Handbag.

WHERE: Manhattan – East Side from 34th to 96th Streets.

WHY: The embellished tunic offers just the right amount of understated sexy without being sloppy or slutty (both preppy no-no’s). Pairing it with white cuffed shorts (must be cuffed to keep it looking tailored, a prep must) still keeps this outfit within the 40%  rule. Adding a pair of espadrilles (the higher the better) will give you the perf sultry leg you need to balance out the tunic coverage.  Finish the outy with a metallic mini-bag to add an extra sparkle of luxe.

P.S. – This outfit also works perfectly if your date wants to do a spontaneous trip to the Hamptons. And what’s more preppy than the Hamptons? Done.
