Sooo…next month will mark one year of me starting Midtown Girl!!! And I am soo glad that I did. Blogging is more than just recreation for me. It has introduced me to a new world of bloggy friends, who have given me awesome advice, listened to me rant on every douche – ahem – every guy that I’ve dated and just about everything else that has been going on in my life.
Once in a while I type in my blog just to see what comes up in Google. Usually ‘midtown girl’ comes up on the first google search page, but thanks to SEO, it comes up on the 3rd page or so (I’m thinking of doing something about this, we’ll see). SEO, according to Wikipedia & just in case you guys were interested is –

“Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. Typically, the earlier a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives a web site web presence.”

Apparently this is really big right now, especially since the blog & social media world has since exploded.

Anywho, that’s not my point in this post. As I looked through the search I see all types of things related to my dear blog and everything else related to ‘Midtown‘: midtown cafe, midtown music, midtown lounge, midtown signals, midtown girl blog spot…HOLD UP.

Back the F* up bitches.

I click on it and apparently, some chick just signed up as Midtown Girl for their blog! WTF?

Now, I’m not saying people can’t do what they want – when they want, but have some originality PLEASE! If you’re starting a blog, and the name you want is taken(which mine is, on both blogspot & .com) why would you still use it (by means of hyphens, asterisks, or whatevz)? That’s so cheesy & unoriginal. That’s the equivalent of someone wanted to do a blog on celebrity gossip and calling it “pedrohilton.com“. COME ON!

Anywayz – I just felt like mentioning this and even though it might seem catty, it’s really not. Bc my ideas & thoughts, etc. – Are Mine.

Does anyone feel the same way?

kissies,
MG
